The summer of ’97. They’d rented a room at the pink motel near the seaside cliffs. Days were spent on the beach and nights were passion filled. Time stood still. Claudette still lived in Antoine’s memories, her face as clear as the night sky that had watched over them on their last night together. She swore she was his forever.

Antoine smiled wistfully. Apparently forever was less than six months. It was just before Christmas he’d heard she was engaged. Some rich business guy.

She may live in a posh home in London now, but in his memories, she’s his forever.
